Where Can I Serve?

Our Lord Jesus Christ commanded us to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of Union Baptist Church is to do our part in fulfilling the Great Commission. That begins in our own community, and spreads across the United States and overseas to every nation. Every ministry of Union Baptist Church has as its goal to reach our God-given responsibility.

Mission Outreach

Union Baptist is honored to be part of the spreading of the kingdom of God around the world. We are active supporters of the Cooperative Program of the Southern Baptist Convention with our church tithe, our prayers, and being involved in short term missions. Each year our church is actively involved in mission projects in our community and the emphasis is on spreading the gospel. We encourage all of our people to respond to God’s call as laborers, wherever the Lord may open the door.

Music & Drama

God-honoring worship is something we strive for. Many church members get involved in our music and drama ministry.  Our worship style is a blend of hymns and contemporary praise all with the desire to exalt the name of Jesus Christ. Union seeks to use all means of multi-media to reach people with a live broadcast and streaming on Sunday morning on WESR AM 1330 and WESR FM 103.3. We also are involved in various means of dramatic presentation of the gospel in our community including a drive-thru nativity at Christmas and a puppet ministry.

Prayer Warriors

Prayer cannot be overestimated. Prayer moves the hand of God. Our church family has an active prayer chain to respond to needs for prayer. We also have a Wednesday night Praise, Prayer, and Bible study at 7:00PM each week. If you have a prayer need, do not hesitate to contact us @ (757) 336-5018. We would consider it our privilege to pray for you.

Children’s Church

In order to give our children the best Bible teaching possible, Union  Baptist Church holds a Children’s Church service in conjunction with the worship service at 11:00 AM each Sunday. This special time gives children more opportunity for interaction and learning in a context and manner that may be better suited to their age. Our friendly children’s church volunteers are gifted with creativity–ranging from puppet shows, games, and object lessons all designed to promote teaching the Bible. Our Children’s Church is for children first grade through third grade. Each Sunday our pastor also has a Children’s sermon with children before they leave the main auditorium for Children’s Church. We consider children a vital part of our church family and this time with pastor is also proven to be a great preparation time for the adults concerning the sermon for that day. All Children’s Church workers are screened and trained to provide a safe environment for all children.

His Fellowship Youth Ministry

Each Sunday evening from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM our Youth leaders gather with youth age children grades 6th through 12th in the Activity Building for a special youth event called His Fellowship complete with Bible Study, worship, and a time of fellowship for the youth.  A basketball program is also provided for youth, 6th to 8th grade, on Thursday night at 7:00 PM.  All workers with Youth are also required to be screened and trained to provide a safe environment for all youth.
