How Do I Meet People?

Union Baptist Church is not a place for spectators. It is a place for team members. Whether you are a five-year old child, a ninety-five year old grandmother, a busy mom, or a businessman with great responsibilities, we want you to be a part of our vibrant church community. Here is how you can learn, serve, and grow at Union Baptist Church.

Baptist Men

The Baptist Men at Union Baptist Church are committed to sharing the message of Christ. The mission of  the Baptist Men is to assist and lead men into a “love relationship” with Jesus Christ that will thrust them and their families into a lifestyle of missions and ministry to participate in  the fulfillment of the Great Commission.  Each 4th Saturday of the month our Baptist Men visit local area nursing homes, singing hymns, and bringing a message of hope and salvation from God’s word.  Locally on Chincoteague, our Baptist Men are on mission for Jesus. During the summer at the Volunteer Fireman’s Carnival tracts and power bracelets are given out to the visitors. The Baptist men also hold a worship service each Sunday morning at 9:00am at the Tom’s Cove Campground from Memorial Day thru Labor Day.  Many of our men are inspired to worship God through song and praise by participating in the Baptist Men’s Choir.  As a way of feeding the Christian Men in the community with God’s Word and fellowship the Baptist Men also host a prayer breakfast once a quarter.

Baptist Women

The Baptist Women of Union Baptist Church offers the ladies of our church a special times of fellowship. Our Baptist Women are always on mission with Jesus and seeking opportunities to reach people for Jesus Christ. They help lead our church in the Lottie Moon Christmas offering for International Missions and the Annie Armstrong Easter offering for North American missions. They are always making something to be used as a tool in missions whether it be crocheting hats for Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes, or making power bracelets to hand out at the Annual Fireman’s Carnival on Chincoteague, or collecting baby needs for the Accomack/NorthHampton Pregnancy Center, or making something for the shut-ins or nursing home residents. Our Baptist Women are also involved in providing meals to shut-ins and other people in need twice a month.

The Baptist Women also offers Girls In Action (GA’s) for our young girls of the church to be made aware of missions and become actively involved in mission projects. Girls In Action meet from October through March of each year at 7:00 PM on Monday nights.

Small Group

Our small groups, known as our Sunday School, are the best way for people to become acclimated to the church. They are smaller environments where interaction and learning is focused on the individual student. Union Baptist Church has a variety of Bible Study classes for every age group from nursery to adult that meets each Sunday morning at 9:45 AM. This is a great way to be involved more intimately with other people and become a part  of the membership of the church. People will come to know you and become a support group for your needs. This will also give you an opportunity to be involved in ministry.
